Tank Davis vs. Frank Martin fight results, schedule

Pound-for-pound star Gervonta “Tank” Davis looks to extend his formidable winning run to 30 fights unbeaten when he defends his WBA lightweight championship against Frank Martin at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on June 15. The 12-round bout, plus undercard action, will be streamed live by Prime Video.

Davis (29-0, 27 KOs) is the biggest hitter in the 135-pound division. The Baltimore native can take an opponent out with either hand and displayed his body punching expertise last time out when he stopped Ryan Garcia with a single left hand to score a seventh-round TKO.

“I’m gonna break you up,” Davis told Martin at the final press conference on Wednesday. “I’m gonna split all that up under your eyes. Every time I tell people something is gonna happen, what happens?

“It hasn’t even hit him yet. He’ll see Saturday. It’s gonna hit him. Especially when I touch him. What is he bringing to the table that I haven’t seen?”

Martin (18-0, 14 KOs) doesn’t have his opponent’s experience at top level, but he was a standout amateur and his skills are beyond reproach. In his most recent fight, last July, the Detroit-born stylist dropped Artem Harutyunyan in the final round to secure a unanimous decision triumph.

“This can go down however [Davis] wants it to go down,” said Martin. “If he acts up, like I’ve been saying, you’re gonna see Gervonta Davis get knocked out. If he acts crazy, he’s going to sleep.

“He comes out to hurt everyone he fights. We’ve heard that before. We’re not worried about none of that. We’re ready for whatever he’s about to bring. We got his number.”

In the co-main event, David Benavidez makes his light heavyweight debut against former WBC champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk.
